A repeat offender for sexual assault on a minor, a man was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Until the end, he denied it, speaking of a plot led by his victim's parents.

The couple had blind trust in their neighbor in South Vendée. «My partner considered him his father, and my daughter saw him as a grandfather,», the mother of the little victim declared to the judges. «He took advantage of the situation. »

One afternoon in June 2015, that trust was betrayed. On Monday, the 62-year-old man was on trial for sexual assault of a minor.

The 8-year-old spends days and entire weekends at the neighbor's house, splashing around in the pool. Then, the man isolates himself with the child in a garden shed...

But during the evening wash, the mother discovers suspicious redness on the genitals of her daughter, who ends up confessing to the abuse of the man, who completely denies the sexual assault.

«I didn’t mess around. I just wiped it in the cabin», the man concedes.

«But why are the child and his parents accusing you? » asks the judge. The defendant then evokes a conspiracy.

«Maybe they needed money…»

As for the images of a pedophile nature found on his computer, he accuses the child's stepfather of having slipped them into his machine, «to get me convicted.».

The judge reminded him of his legal past. Two convictions for sexual assault on a minor, then for possession of child pornography images…

According to the deputy prosecutor, in addition to the acts «extremely serious in a context of recidivism, it is perverse to accuse the victim’s stepfather. This defense is terrifying».

The court handed down a sentence of 7 years in prison, 10 years of socio-judicial supervision, and a ban on contact with minors.
