Guadeloupe | 30 years in prison for the multi-recidivist child offender

After having served 13 years of criminal imprisonment for rape, he immediately did it again...

An incestuous father and repeat offender, 69 years old, tried since Monday April 29 by the Assize Court of Basse-Terre, received a sentence of 30 years of criminal imprisonment.

He was found guilty of having voluntarily carried out acts of penetration on his girl aged between 8 and 9 years old and sexual assault on another 10 year old victim at the time of the alleged facts.

These acts were allegedly committed between December 2018 and March 2020 for the former and from June 2021 to July 2022 for the latter.

The man did not hesitate to photograph and film oneself during his actions committed towards his daughters or those of others. Girls of 8, 9, 10 or 11 years old.

As a repeat offender, he did not take into account his previous convictions in 2005 for sexual assault and in 2013 for rape of a 15-year-old minor.

Despite a first sanction of 3 years of imprisonment before the criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Basse-Terre then another of 13 years of criminal imprisonment before, this time, the assize court of the capital, the individual started again immediately after his release, from 2018 to 2020 then from 2021 to 2022.

Not a year for 4 years without attacking innocent people for his pleasure. A sexual desire that he found stronger with girls than with his respective companions.

Despite the treatment order, the man stopped seeking treatment. A voluntary act clearly signifying «his decision to continue his work», the attorney general made him understand, on the first day of his trial.

The first day of the trial horrified the jurors when faced with photos and videos of a defendant confused by his own actions. Recordings made while he was on an electronic bracelet.

This evidence is significant:

«Of a sickly nerve and an excessive obsession without measure and without control», according to the Public Ministry.

Described as limitless and dangerous for society, he forced, through his actions, the little girls and their respective mothers to flee Guadeloupe to get away from him.

Little girls who have grown up since then and have become civil parties with their loved ones.

The verdict fell this Tuesday evening after two days of hearing and several hours of deliberation.

He was found guilty and sentenced to 30 years of criminal imprisonment. He faced the maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The jurors of the Assize Court fully followed the requisitions of the Attorney General, Elodie Rouchouse.

She felt that the man was a predator, dangerous for children, he needed to be removed from society.

Repeat rapist, father of one of the little victims, children under 15 years old at the time of the facts - between 8 and 9 years old for one of them and between 10 and 11 years old for the other - the convicted person has gathered all the elements of aggravation which could make him incur a life sentence. He narrowly escaped but, at almost 70 years old, it is a heavy sentence that weighs on his shoulders now.

During the 2 days of his trial, the man never really apologized and never really asked for forgiveness from the victims and their respective mothers.

They testified by videoconference from France recounting a shock and a trauma which shattered part of the children's childhood.

Today they are trying to rebuild their lives far from Guadeloupe and far from the one they consider to be a «miserable monster».
