Since March 18, 2024, the date of Inès Piedanna's disappearance, her mother Angélique Bryckaert has lived in permanent anguish. That day, the 16-year-old teenager (15 at the time of her disappearance) voluntarily left her high school in Dunkirk.
She left with an 18-year-old young man from Bordeaux, whom she met a few months earlier on social networks.
Since the call for witnesses, launched by the Hoymille gendarmerie on March 21, the investigation has continued. The military, as well as volunteers from the ARPD (Assistance and Search for Missing Persons), are actively looking for Inès.
For her part, Angélique moves heaven and earth to find her daughter.
Most of the gendarmes' research focuses on Anthony, the young adult whom Inès joined on the day of his disappearance. Thanks to the identification of the boy's cell phone, the military hopes to be able to locate him for good.
«At first, they thought they were in Belgium because the phone had no connection at all. But it’s probably because he puts it in airplane mode,» explains Angélique.
Her daughter left her phone at the school and therefore cannot be located through it.
Angélique Bryckaert is all the more worried as she has seen her daughter's behavior change over the months.
«They had been talking since October, but Inès kept it a secret. She is a very shy girl and easily influenced. »
According to the 42-year-old mother, the teenager who had excellent grades in high school –
«she had ambition, she wanted to become a notary» – was no longer as studious. «Since she has known him, she has sunk, he has poisoned her mind. »
Originally from Bordeaux, the famous Anthony would have already come to Dunkirk, last February, to meet Inès.
A first meeting that would have gone badly for the young girl. In fact, the Dunkirk hospital issued a report against the 18-year-old young man.
Finally, for 15 days, the young adult would have cut ties with his parents, the latter asking him by telephone to bring the teenager back to the gendarmerie.
«My life has been at a standstill for 3 weeks. I feel that she is not safe, I feel within myself that she is not well,» breathes Inès« mother, who can still count on the support of her family, her friends and the inhabitants of Pitgam, the village where the family comes from. »Everyone is helping us. »
In an attempt to advance the research, Angélique Bryckaert tirelessly continues to share the notice of her daughter's disappearance on social networks and with the media.
«I put up posters all over town, I change them as soon as they are damaged. I'll post new photos in case Inès has changed her hairstyle. »
Finally, at each event, the mother has a pang in her heart.
«Sunday was his birthday. I had promised her a surprise with her friends, but she wasn't there... Tuesday, when there was a storm, it hurt me because I know she's afraid of it. »
To help advance the search, anyone who has information or has seen the young girl is asked to call the Hoymille gendarmerie on 03 28 68 65 22 or the ARPD (Assistance and Search for Missing Persons) on 06 84 73 31 56.
